Han Guoliang graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music and earned a Master's degree from Boston University School of Music. He served as the principal flutist for the China National Symphony Orchestra from 1996 to 2019, where he collaborated with illustrious conductors and artists such as Charles Dutoit, Isaac Stern, Seiji Ozawa, Yehudi Menuhin, Lorin Maazel, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Li Delun, and Michel Plasson. Notably, he performed at Carnegie Hall in New York and is the only flutist in Asia signed with the prestigious EMI and NAXOS record labels.

 

Han Guoliang has worked extensively with both Chinese and international composers like Zhou Long, Chen Yi, Zhao Jiping, Ye Xiaogang, Zhang Qianyi, and Gary Schocker, recording numerous classical works and receiving high acclaim in the industry. He is a frequent judge at major international flute competitions and a special guest at music festivals. Currently, he holds the position of Artistic Director of the China International Flute Festival and serves as Vice Chairman of the Wind Music Society of the Chinese Musicians' Association.

 

Since beginning his teaching career at the Central Conservatory of Music in 1986, Han Guoliang's students have won a total of 121 awards, including 54 in major international flute competitions. His mentorship has helped his students sweep the Golden Bell Awards (gold, silver, and bronze) in China. He has nurtured a generation of outstanding young flutists who now hold significant positions in performance and education globally, contributing greatly to the flute community.
