Tymur Melnyk is an Austrian-Ukrainian violinist, prize-winner at Fritz Kreisler International Violin Competition and Johannes Brahms International Music Competition (Austria), Osaka International Music Competition (Japan). He is regularly performing as a concert soloist with orchestra (International Chamber Orchestra Vienna, Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra, St. Petersburg Chamber Orchestra, Carinthian Symphony Orchestra). As a chamber musician he is giving recitals with Patrick Lechner (piano), focusing on expressive and virtuoso repertoire, performing internationally in prestigious halls such as the Musikverein and Konzerthaus Vienna - Austria, Salle Gaveau Paris - France, Auditorio Barcelona - Spain, Gnessin Concert Hall Moscow – Russia, Smith Square London – UK, Shenzhen Concert Hall and Oriental Art Center Shanghai – China, among others.

 

Due to his extraordinary artistic activity he was awarded the Austrian citizenship in 2008 and has been granted the honor of a long-term loan of the Italian violin “Camillo Camilli” (made in 1763) from the collection of precious antique string instruments of the Austrian National Bank.

Tymur is frequently engaged by the Austrian Cultural Forum (Beijing )and the Austrian Consulate (Chengdu) to perform at significant inter-cultural and diplomatic events. Tymur has recorded several CD publications, published and distributed by the labels Vienna Music Records (Austria) and Querstand (Germany).

 

Born in Kiev - Ukraine, Tymur started playing violin at the early age of 6 with his mother, Hanna Melnyk, as his first teacher for the first ten years of education. He graduated with distinction (as Magister atrium) and an award of the Austrian Ministry of Culture from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna under the tutorship of Prof. M. Frischenschlager. He gathered further artistic impulses by actively participating at international forums and masterclasses with Maestro Vladimir Spivakov (Switzerland), Prof. Zakhar Bron (Germany), Maestro Ivry Gitlis (France), Prof. E. Tchougaeva (Russia).

 

Tymur is the president of Central International Music Academy Vienna (CIMA) since 2018, curating an international masterclass and a prestigious international music competition with orchestra in Austria. Furthermore, Tymur is regularly invited to serve as a jury member of competitions such as “Euritmia” International Music Competition – Italy, National Violin Competition Serbia, “Ohrid Pearls” International Music Competition - Northern Macedonia, SVIREL International Music Competition – Slovenia, Melbourne Festival International Competition and Shenzhen International String Competition - China.

 

Alongside with performing, Tymur has been teaching internationally, at Conservatory of Music Lausanne-Sion in Switzerland, “Franz Schubert Conservatory of Music” in Vienna - Austria, JVL Summer Music Academy Toronto – Canada, School of Music Fiesole – Italy. Currently Tymur is holding a professorship (high-end foreign expert) at CCAA Chengdu University and PRIMA International Music Academy – China.
