"The most beautiful moment in music is encounter," shared President Lu Siqing at the recently concluded "Lu Siqing and Friends" concert. "At The Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao, chamber music is a highly valued discipline. All students engage in chamber music performance and training, learning to listen and to collaborate—essential qualities for holistic education and for becoming outstanding musicians in the future."
On December 26, the Chamber Music/Orchestra Teaching and Research Office of The Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao will present this semester's "Winter Journey" Chamber Music Department Concert. Under the joint guidance of Professor Yang Gefang, Director of the Teaching and Research Office, teacher Teng Bo, and faculty from other departments, students will present a musical teaching demonstration centered on listening, dialogue, and collaboration. The performances will feature string quintets, quartets, piano trios, and a string orchestra.
Chamber music is a core component of our school's professional education. Through systematic ensemble training, it focuses on cultivating students' collaborative ability in "listening and cooperating." Guided by this philosophy—from daily ensemble training in classes to joint performances at home and abroad, from notable appearances in major events to the consistent recognition of students' original chamber music compositions—the students demonstrate a profound understanding and creative expression of this art form. All of this is made possible under the guidance of an international professional faculty team led by Professor Yang Gefang, Director of the Teaching and Research Office.
