On June 1, a special concert focusing on the growth and development of young musical talents—the "Music New Generation" Chamber Music Concert—will be presented at Jinan Theatre. This concert is organized under the guidance of the Publicity Department of the Jinan Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, and co-hosted by our school and the School of Music of Shandong University of Arts. It also constitutes an important component of the five‑year "Music New Generation" cultivation series jointly initiated by the School of Music of Shandong University of Arts and Jinan Theatre in 2025.
As cradles for nurturing young musical artists rooted in the Qilu region, both the School of Music of Shandong University of Arts and Qingdao Menuhin School—the only K‑12 international music school of its kind in China—are vital birthplaces for the "New Generation of Music." This concert not only jointly presents the pedagogical achievements of the two institutions but also represents a fusion of Qilu cultural heritage with international music education concepts.
For this performance, our school has specially selected a delegation comprising more than ten faculty members and students from Jinan, who will perform on their hometown stage, adding a special warmth and significance to the concert.
Music requires inheritance and development; behind every successful new‑generation artist lies the diligent work of one or even several generations of music educators, all of whom are supporters who "reserve the softest place in their hearts for young musical talents." In addition to young students from the School of Music of Shandong University of Arts, our current students, and some 2025 alumni as the "new generation," this concert will also feature the dedicated support of four educators: Thomas Rosenkranz, Music Director of Qingdao Menuhin School; Professor Yu Mingqing, Head of the Cello Department; Professor Guo Yongsheng (cello); and Professor Kong Zhaohui (violin), renowned as the "Liang Zhu" expert, together with Associate Professor Liu Bojun (cello). They will lead students from university, secondary, and primary levels together, interpreting the continuity and intergenerational transmission of art.
This performance coincides with International Children's Day on June 1. The concert, named "New Generation," is a tribute to the growth of young musicians and a gift of art to the audience in the Spring City. On the evening of June 1, let us gather at Jinan Theatre to listen to the voices of the new generation and feel the artistic power that transcends generations.
