Educational Philosophy
Our aim is for students to not only dedicate themselves as excellent musicians, who
will use their music to inspire and enrich the lives of others, but to being well-rounded
individuals who are fully equipped to contribute to the community.
Under the philosophy established by The Yehudi Menuhin School, and which The Yehudi Menuhin
School Qingdao inherits, is for a musician to succeed, his or her mind must be fully educated and receptive
to the world in which he or she lives, and determined to contribute to the development of art and society.
“Our role is to provide the students with high quality teachers, time to practise,
opportunities to play in public and work with others, as well as access to courses of study and musical
activities – for example, improvisation, or the art of composition. In this way their artistic gifts can
blossom. Our objective is partly to train excellent musicians, but also to develop people who are open, well
