August 17 was a beautiful day as it was between late summer and early autumn. The red flag with five distinct yellow stars rose high above the campus as the national anthem sang. The staff of The Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao and the representatives of Qingdao Urban Construction Group (the host of the School) all gathered on the brand new campus to celebrate this important moment.

Yuan Sheng, Executive Deputy Manager of Qingdao Urban Construction Group and Chairman of Qingdao Urban Construction Group Education and Culture Company, addressed the hard work of each team member who made contributions to the construction of the School, making this architectural artwork to be successfully displayed in front of the world.He highly appraised  how important the role of the Yehudi Menuhin School is in  guiding the preparation of the YMSQ’s management team and international first-class teaching team. Yuan said, “I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the colleagues at home and abroad who participated in the construction and preparation of the School and people from various sectors of society who care and support the establishment of the School. At the same time, we encourage all the School staff to make concerted efforts to build the Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao into a highly influential international music school in China and even East Asia area with rigorous academic spirit and world-class professional standards, to carry forward the Menuhin spirit.”

Mark Stringer, Deputy Head of the School, spoke highly of the exciting journey of the Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao from making a dream become into reality, as well as the unparalleled facilities of the School. He expressed his thanks to all the builders and the School team, and mentioned，"When a house is built, it is the people who occupy it who transform it from a house - a building - into a home. And, likewise, that is the responsibility which is also being handed over today to me and my colleagues at The Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao. It is for us to take such an inspirational building, set in the most beautiful environment, and which will have all of the resources one could dream of, and for us to embrace, explore and exploit it to the full and enjoy it, and make it the home of the highest calibre music and musicians. We are now embarking on our journey to work with our first cohort of students and to establish this School as one of the world’s finest music-coaching institutions and a national and regional centre of excellence in music education. "

Zheng Ran, the Head, received the golden key which symbolises the official opening of the School from Kong Shaowu, the Chairman of Qingdao Urban Construction Group. This symbolic moment means that the management of the new campus has been officially delivered to the School team and the first YMSQ students will soon to come and start their new semester. This key not only symbolises the opening of a new voyage of the Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao, but also the opening of the bright future forall of our YMSQ students!
