On June 22nd, as summer approached and the fruits of education were about to ripen, The Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao held its 2024 graduation ceremony under the theme “Pursuing Excellence – May You Have the Power to Converse with the World.” President Lu Siqing, Head Ran Zheng, and Deputy Head Mark Stringer, along with the entire school’s faculty, students, and parent representatives, attended the ceremony to send off the second batch of graduates on their new journey to chase their dreams. Special guest Ms. Kong Dongmei, Chairwoman of the Dongrun Foundation, also attended the ceremony.
The five graduates completed their studies at The Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao with outstanding achievements, securing a total of 19 offers from world-renowned music academies. A documentary played at the event revisited their memorable moments and growth at the school. The school leadership, teachers, classmates, and parents had pre-recorded surprise videos, sending warm and heartfelt wishes to the graduates.
President Lu Siqing personally presented diplomas to the five graduates and delivered a graduation message titled “Pursuing Excellence – May You Have the Power to Converse with the World.” He warmly congratulated the graduates on their successful completion of studies, sincerely thanked the teaching staff, and earnestly hoped that the graduates would continue to remember the core values of the school, bravely pursue their dreams, deeply root themselves in Chinese culture while embracing the world, maintain lifelong learning, openness, inclusivity, and passionate dedication, and become outstanding talents who create significant value in the arts, society, and for others.
In her speech, the parent representative, Li Hao’s mother, expressed that The Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao adheres to the philosophy of innovative, comprehensive, and holistic education. Here, children not only progress in their musical expertise alongside masters but also achieve comprehensive improvement in academics, humanistic spirit, and personal character under holistic education. They learn to understand music with their hearts, spread love, and cultivate responsibility, all of which will become lifelong wealth and motivation for their future paths.
Ms. Kong Dongmei, Chairwoman of the Dongrun Foundation, remarked in her speech that it was touching to see the students excelling academically and being mindful of the world, and to witness the teachers' tireless efforts. This school not only provides world-class art education to young music lovers in China but also significantly promotes collaboration between China and the world in music education, cultural exchange, and youth development. She encouraged the graduates to always maintain their love for music, uphold a mindset of lifelong learning, and persist in their life dreams, growing into bright stars on the global music stage.
In a special segment of the ceremony, the 2024 graduates recorded their future dreams and goals, stored them in a time capsule buried in the school's soil, to be opened and witness the fruition of their efforts ten years later. At the graduation concert following the ceremony, the five graduates took turns performing, marking a perfect conclusion to their studies at The Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao and expressing their deepest gratitude to their teachers and all those who supported their growth.
Building on the success of the previous academic year, The Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao continued to achieve remarkable results in the 2023-2024 academic year.
