Though July marks the start of summer vacation at The Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao, the campus remains alive with music. A series of prestigious music events and competitions have graced the school, attracting young music lovers from across the country to dive into the joyful world of art at this coastal and mountainous haven. Indeed, The Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao continues to shine, making this summer just as vibrant with sound and excitement!
From July 14 to 19, the 2024 “Yifei Congtian” Horn Mastery Summer Camp kicked off at The Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao, marking the second consecutive year the camp has been hosted here. More than 240 French horn students trained under the tutelage of esteemed French horn masters from around the world, participating in a variety of student-faculty concerts, masterclasses, and comprehensive training sessions. The powerful and majestic sounds of the French horn reverberated throughout the campus, creating a resounding and grand musical atmosphere.
Between July 16 and 23, the 2024 "CelloFamily" International Cello Festival and the 2024 "Qingdao Gala" made a triumphant return to our campus. This festival brought together over 70 distinguished cellists from around the world, including our very own Professor Yu Mingqing, head of the Cello Department. More than 260 cello students gathered for expert classes and participated in the 5th "CelloFamily" International Cello Competition. The school's state-of-the-art facilities offered students an unparalleled experience, with accompanying parents expressing admiration for the school's professional organization and superb facilities.
From July 20 to 27, the fourth International Double Bass Festival and the Flagship Double Bass Orchestra Performance took place at The Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao. The event, initiated and planned by Professor Song Yi, featured leading double bass performers and educators from around the world, including our school's double bass professor Hou Junxia. This festival offered a high-level platform for double bass enthusiasts and professionals to engage in performance, learning, and exchange.
On July 26, clarinet talents from across the country gathered at our school to participate in the 12th Qingdao International Clarinet Masterclass. Under the instruction of world-class clarinettists, participants underwent intensive performance training and showcased their talent in concerts, further honing their artistry. This year’s masterclass also collaborated with the Mozart Clarinet Competition, enhancing the prestige and appeal of the event.
