Nurturing Dreams with Love: Music Library Enriched by Faculty Donations

As a K12 full-time international music-focused school, The Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao (YMSQ) boasts not only a well-stocked standard library but also a specialized music library. This library amasses a wealth of music books, scores, and audio-visual materials, providing teachers and students with convenient and timely access to the professional resources necessary for music study.

Books and Scores in the Music Library

The collection at the school's music library continues to grow, with teachers frequently contributing to its development. Since last year, a piano teacher from the Keyboard Faculty, Shi He, has donated over 50 of his own treasured music books to the music library. This collection includes categories like technique exercises, sight-reading tutorials, arrangements of operas and symphonies, selected artistic pieces, and pedagogical methods. It also features many overseas original scores not yet introduced by domestic publishers. These resources are comprehensive, information-rich, and valuable, making them essential for the Menuhin music library and beneficial for both teachers' and students' learning.

Technique Exercise Scores Donated by Teacher Shi He

Particularly noteworthy is the rich collection of technique exercises, encompassing works commonly used by great pianists and educators since the 18th century. These composers are not confined to a single school or tradition, and many have trained a significant number of outstanding performing masters. Having these books means that students can access a more comprehensive technical training and lay a solid professional foundation.

Artistic Works from Various Periods Donated by Teacher Shi He

Beyond technique exercises, the donated books also include a variety of artistic works from different musical periods to expose students to a wide range of performance styles. This diverse repertoire offers more possibilities for the children's performances.

The valuable materials acquired by the school library not only contribute to the teaching and learning at YMSQ but also embody the benevolence and passion of the educators. On the occasion of Teachers' Day, the school library expresses its gratitude and extends festive wishes to Teacher Shi He and all the teachers who "harbor a sky full of stars" in their hearts.
