Ma Yingjun began his trombone studies in 2008 under the guidance of Zhang Tieli. In 2009, he continued his studies with Zhao Hongliang, Principal Trombone of the Henan Song and Dance Theatre, and Zhou Bo, a trumpet player and Secretary-General of the Western Orchestral Association of Xinxiang. In 2011, he was admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music Middle School, where he studied under Professors Hu Bingyu, Guo Pengyuan, and Zhao Ruilin, experts in trombone and tuba. In 2017, he entered the Orchestral Instruments Department of the Central Conservatory of Music, continuing his studies with Professor Zhao Ruilin. In 2021, Ma Yingjun was accepted into the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków, Poland, where he studied under Zdzislaw Stolarczyk, Principal Trombone of the Cracow Philharmonic Orchestra and known as the "Father of Polish Trombone," Tomasz Stolarczyk, Principal Trombone of the Cracow Philharmonic Orchestra, Karol Gajda, Trombone Teacher at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, and Andrzej Tkaczyk, Deputy Principal Trombone of the Cracow Philharmonic Orchestra. He graduated with top honours. In 2023, he continued his postgraduate studies at the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music, pursuing a Performance Diploma. In 2024, he studied conducting under the renowned trumpet player and conductor Professor Dai Zhonghui.
As a passionate advocate of Chinese traditional culture, Ma Yingjun is committed to the Sinicization of the trombone and Western brass instruments. Culturally, he has studied under Professor Zeng Zhaoxu, Professor of Chinese at Tamkang University and Distinguished Professor of Chinese at Huafan University, Taiwan, and Professor Huang Heqing from the College of Arts and Archaeology, Zhejiang University. In 2023, Ma Yingjun composed "Ancient Melody Capriccio," the first trombone capriccio for symphony orchestra in China, and in 2024, he composed "Dawn of the Ancient City," the first symphonic trombone piece in China.
In 2011, Ma Yingjun became Principal Trombone and Principal Euphonium of the China Youth Wind Orchestra. In 2013, he joined the National Youth Orchestra of China as Principal Trombone. At the 2017 Jinbao International Trombone and Tuba Festival, he performed "Mongolian Fantasy" as a guest at the opening ceremony. That same year, he was appointed Principal Euphonium of the China Youth Wind Orchestra. In 2018, he became Principal Trombone of the China Youth Symphony Orchestra, collaborating frequently with the Central Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra and the Beijing Opera Theatre Orchestra in both the euphonium and trombone sections. In 2019, Ma Yingjun recorded trombone parts for the CCTV Spring Festival Gala and participated in the choir at the Tiananmen Square celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. In 2021, he was appointed Principal Trombone of the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music Youth Symphony Orchestra and collaborated with the Cracow Philharmonic Orchestra in the trombone section. In 2022, he held two solo recitals at the Florianka Recital Hall in Poland, and in 2023, he gave four solo recitals in Xinxiang, Henan Province. He is proficient in Baroque trombone, alto trombone, bass trombone, euphonium, baritone, and bass trumpet.
