Song Jiayi embarked on her musical journey at age 5, progressing quickly to study under Professor Zhong Hui at the Central Conservatory of Music Middle School by age 11. She entered Xinghai Conservatory of Music Middle School in 2007, excelling in her studies. In 2013, she ranked third in her province for entrance into the Xinghai Conservatory of Music, where she studied under Professor Xian Jinsong, head of the piano department. Throughout her undergraduate years, she earned numerous scholarships from internal competitions sponsored by Kaisenburg and Yamaha, and received a professional scholarship for three consecutive years. Her musical training includes guidance from esteemed pianists such as Li Mingqiang, Wu Ying, Wei Danwen, Guo Jiate, Vladimir Feltsman, Victor Rosenbaum, and Massimiliano Ferrati. In 2017, Song Jiayi was awarded a significant scholarship to pursue her studies at the Mannes School of Music under the tutelage of Jerome Rose, a pianist and educator often referred to as "the last romantic of our time." During her graduate studies, she actively participated in the Mannes Sounds Festival and concerto competitions.

 

In recent years, Song Jiayi has remained active in the music scene, serving as a judge and artistic advisor at various competitions and festivals. She has held positions such as the piano artistic director at the Qingdao Zhongtie World Expo City Spruce Award International Classical Music Competition and the International Cello Art Festival, as well as piano artistic director for the Shandong regional Hummingbird Music Award.

 

Her students have flourished under her mentorship, achieving top prizes at prestigious competitions like the Irmler (Qingdao) International Piano Competition, the Steinway & Sons Junior Piano Competition, and securing first prize in the ensemble category at the Hummingbird Music Awards.
