Yin Xiang began his musical journey at age 12 under the guidance of Professor Dai Yunhua. In 1995, he was admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music Middle School where he studied with Professor Li Lansong. Pursuing further education, he moved to Germany in 2002 to study under Professor Oscar Bohorquez and subsequently graduated from the Cologne Conservatory with a master’s degree. Since 2006, Yin Xiang has been a faculty member at Qingdao University School of Music, where he teaches bassoon and wind ensemble music. Yin Xiang has actively performed with several orchestras, including the Macao Symphony Orchestra, the Central Conservatory of Music EOS Symphony Orchestra, and the Qingdao Symphony Orchestra, and he regularly holds bassoon and wind ensemble concerts. His expertise in wind music has led him to serve as a judge in numerous domestic music competitions and for grading, as well as in the Korea Asian Youth Music Competition. In 2019, he was honored by the International Double Reed Society (IDRS) to participate in the fourth Asian Double Reed Association annual meeting, where he performed a special bassoon ensemble concert. Yin Xiang also holds leadership roles as a director of the Qingdao College Music Federation and as an executive director of the Western Wind Music Society.

 

His students have consistently achieved high recognition, winning numerous awards in both domestic and international competitions. These accolades include gold and silver medals at the Chinese Wind Music Cup, gold at the Asia Wind Music Competition in South Korea, first prize at the Sino-German Youth Hummingbird Chamber Music Competition, and second and third prizes at the first Jinbao Bassoon Competition. Yin Xiang’s students have gained admission to prestigious music schools worldwide, such as the Central Conservatory of Music, Hamburg University of Music & Theatre, Augsburg Music Department, Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore, and the Royal Academy of Music in the UK. Moreover, he has successfully mentored musically talented students into top universities in China, enhancing their careers and opportunities in the field of music.
