Professor Ning Feng began learning the violin at the age of four and started studying under Professor Hu Weimin from Sichuan Conservatory of Music at six. In 1998, he went on to study at the Royal Academy of Music in the UK under Professor Hu Kun. He graduated with full marks in all courses in 2003, becoming the first person to achieve such a feat since the school's founding, and then continued his studies at the Hochschule für Musik Berlin under Professor Antje Weithaas to pursue a performer's degree.
Throughout his academic and professional career, Ning Feng has won numerous prestigious awards, including second place in the 2000 Yehudi Menuhin International Competition for Young Violinists, first place in the 2005 Michael Hill International Violin Competition in New Zealand, and first place in the world-renowned Paganini International Violin Competition in 2006.
In his last letter of recommendation before his passing, the violin maestro Yehudi Menuhin wrote, "Ning Feng's performance deeply moved me... His musical talent and abilities will illuminate his future path."
As a globally acclaimed violinist, Ning Feng is widely recognized in the international music world for the great lyricism, innate musicality and stunning virtuosity. He has frequently collaborated with renowned conductors and orchestras, including the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra led by Jaap van Zweden, the Budapest Festival Orchestra led by Iván Fischer, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin led by Lawrence Foster, the New York Philharmonic led by Long Yu, as well as the Royal Philharmonic, LA Philharmonic, National Symphony (Washington), Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, and Frankfurt Radio Symphony. In the field of chamber music, Ning Feng has performed regularly at London's Wigmore Hall and the Kissinger Sommer festival, collaborating with artists such as Edgar Moreau, Daniel Müller-Schott, Nicholas Angelich, and Igor Levit. As one of the most sought-after soloists in China, Ning Feng regularly performs with all major Chinese orchestras and international orchestras on tour in China, as well as giving solo recitals. In the 2023/2024 concert season, Ning Feng served as the Artist-in-Residence at the National Centre for the Performing Arts, opening the season with his "Bach Project", presenting a comprehensive showcase of Bach's violin works through solo performances and concertos.
Dutch record label Channel Classics has produced several highly acclaimed albums featuring Ning Feng. He recorded the album "Brahms: Violin Sonatas" with pianist Zee Zee, and the label's previous release of his recording of "Bach: Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin" was praised by Gramophone magazine as "unlike anyone else’s…it’s the illusion of a freewheeling conversation projected from within that held me captive."
As a music educator, Ning Feng has also achieved remarkable success, distinguished by his methodical approach to teaching that seamlessly integrates theory and practice. He serves as a Violin Professor at the Hanns Eisler School of Music (Berlin) and also holds the position of International Professor of Violin at the Royal Northern College of Music. He is also the Artistic Director of Chamber Music Academy of Zhejiang Conservatory of Music and the Deputy Dean of Violin Research Institute of Sichuan Conservatory of Music. He has also been invited to serve as a visiting professor at Tianjin Conservatory of Music and Xi'an Conservatory of Music, and has nurtured numerous outstanding musicians who have gone on to achieve international success.
