Dual master’s degrees in opera and classical music performance, Belgium's highest music performance degree


Shi Yanqiao was born in Qingdao, China and started piano learning from an early age. He graduated from the Bern University of the Arts in Switzerland and the International Opera Academy in Belgium, holding dual master’s degrees in opera and classical music performance, along with Belgium's highest music performance degree. He has studied vocal performance under the guidance of Professor Christian Hilz, a German baritone singer and Professor Berthold Possemeyer at Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts. He also studied early music with the internationally renowned lutenist Peter Croton and opera with the acclaimed director Guy Joosten.


Throughout his time in Europe, Shi Yanqiao engaged in numerous performances, steadily honing his artistic skills. He developed a vibrant performing style, receiving praise from numerous artists in the industry. He played major roles such as GugLielmo and Alfonso in the opera “Così fan tutte”, Escamillo, the bullfighter in “Carmen”, Leporello in “Don Giovanni” and the famous playwright Bertolt Brecht in the Broadway musical “Love Music”.


Upon returning to his home country, Shi Yanqiao was invited to take part in the Qingdao Art Museum's Summer Music Festival, where he held a highly acclaimed recital. Additionally, he participated in and held numerous vocal concerts in cities such as Qingdao, Changsha, Chungshan, and Quanzhou. He was a frequent guest on the Qingdao Broadcasting System's program “Music Chat”, using this platform to impart classical music knowledge to the pubLic.


Shi has engaged in music education both domestically and internationally. His years of international experience have made him famiLiar with both Eastern and Western educational philosophies. He excels in tailoring his teaching methods to students' individual characteristics, and he is proficient in teaching languages such as EngLish and German. Since returning to China, he has been devoted to teaching music and drama courses. He has worked in various international schools, directed and staged EngLish plays, and adapted and arranged chamber music pieces.
