Xueqing Chen learned cello with Professor Zongli Li at the Shenyang Conservatory of Music since she was 8 years old and held a solo concert at the School while she was only 11 years old. One year later Xueqing started to study at the Shenyang Conservatory of Music Affiliated Secondary Music School, during which time she was selected to study in the honors class of Sumiko Kurata, the famous Japanese cellist, former pupil of Paul Tortelier. In 1985, Xueqing was awarded the Third Prize of National Theatre Academy Cello Competition. She was admitted by the Music School in Beijing in the same year, and she then learned cello from Professor Xiang Wang. During her studies was also member of legendary Chinese Youth Orchestra and visited eight Western and Eastern European countries. In 1987, Xueqing was invited to attend International Chamber Music Festival in Hong Kong as a member of the Student String Quartet of the Music School in Beijing. In 1988, Xueqing won the First prize of the first National All-Level Cello Competition. At the same year she recorded a solo album for the Radio Beijing. In 1989, she successfully held a solo concert conducted by the famous conductor Zuohuang Chen and performed by the Central Philharmonic Orchestra and was then invited to attend the Australian International Youth Music Festival.

 

In 1991, Xueqing was admitted to study at University of Southern California. She was taught by the famous cello professor Eleanore Schoenfeld. During her studies Xueqing also performed with the Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Ballet, and the San Diego Symphony Orchestra. Meanwhile, Xueqing was a member of the American Stringer Teachers Association. Between 2003 and 2012, she has joined the Macao Orchestra as the Cello Principal and has cooperated with multiple well-known musicians and conductors. Xueqing also performed many operas conducted by Daniel Oren, the famous conductor. Between 2012 and 2021, Xueqing has joined the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra as the Cello Principal and attended large musical festivals with the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra in countries such as Turkey, Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, South Africa, France, Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia, the United States, and Canada. Currently she is a member of the Chinese Cellists’ Association.
