Fei Xu is considered one of the country's leading pedagogues in USA. He has been named distinguished teacher by the US department of Education. From 2019 to 2022 Fei Xu served as piano professor at China Conservatory and the head of the piano department of its affiliated middle school.

 

Born in Beijing, China, Fei received his music education at the Central Conservatory of Music, where he held B.M and M.M degrees and served as a faculty member. In China, he mainly studied with Zheng Airong, Zhao Pingguo, Pan Yiming, Hong Shigui and Zhou Quangren. In US, Fei has studied piano, harpsichord and organ with George Pappastavrou, John Metz, and Robert Clark at Syracuse University and Arizona State University. Fei has given lectures and master classes in China and United States, and has served on the juries of many piano competitions.

 

Besides piano, Fei did advanced studies on Harpsichord and Organ, and had given numerous recitals on both instruments.

 

Fei has been awarded seven times the Outstanding Teacher of the Year by the Arizona Young Artist Committee. Fei’s students have won top prizes in many local, national and international piano competitions, including: Arizona Young artist competition, Arizona Stairway piano competitions, 2004, 2007, 2012,and 2015 Music Teacher National Association Piano Competition. Scholarship winners of Chopin foundation of the United States.

 

International piano competition prizes includes First Prize of 2012 New York International Piano Competition, First Prize of 2011 New Orleans International Piano Competition, The Third Prize of 2008 Gina Bachauer International junior and young artists piano competition, First Prize of 2008, 2011, and 2015 IIYM International Piano Competition, The Second Prize of 2008 Missouri International Piano Competition, First Prize of 2014 Stravinsky international piano competition and First Prize of 2018 Arthur Fraser International Piano Competition.
