On March 22, at the invitation of the Austrian Embassy in China, representatives from our school, along with President Lv Siqing, attended the Austrian Embassy's Spring Concert in Beijing and delivered a stunning performance.
The concert opened with performances by two of our Austrian teachers, Tymur Melnyk and Patrick Lechner, who teach violin and piano at The Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao, respectively. They selected works by the Austrian violinist and composer Fritz Kreisler. Their clear, delicate, and lyrically beautiful performance transported the audience to the music-filled, artistic, and romantic city of Vienna.
Our students majoring in violin and piano also took the stage confidently, presenting solo and ensemble performances. They showcased the budding musicianship of Yehudi Menuhin School students, earning enthusiastic praise from the audience for their professional playing skills and heartfelt interpretation of the pieces.
Christian Mandl, Counsellor in Charge of the Cultural Office of the Austrian Embassy, along with President Lv Siqing, awarded certificates to the participating teachers and students. The embassy also presented an official certificate of appreciation to The Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao, expressing anticipation for continued friendly exchanges and cooperation.
In April of last year, Counsellor Mandl and his wife, Barbara Stark, made a special visit to The Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao. They were deeply impressed by the school's faculty, teaching standards, and the students' demeanour, immediately expressing their anticipation for more collaborative exchanges with the school. In his speech at the concert, Mandl particularly thanked the students and teachers from Qingdao for traveling such a long distance to deliver a splendid performance. He highly praised the school's efforts in promoting classical music and strengthening Sino-Austrian friendship.
President Lv Siqing, in his speech, mentioned that Austria, known as the "Kingdom of Music," boasts a long-standing musical history and profound cultural heritage, with numerous musical masters. Vienna, its capital, is a world-renowned music city. This concert provided the students and teachers of The Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao with an opportunity to make a positive contribution to Sino-Austrian cultural and artistic exchanges. This valuable experience will inject more inspiration and motivation into their musical journey. The Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao will continue to maintain close cooperation with the Austrian Embassy, actively contributing to the enhancement of Sino-Austrian friendship and cultural exchange.
