On the evening of September 29, Xiao Xiyuan, a faculty member of The Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao, took part in the “Walking Together – United Front Celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the People’s Republic of China.” This event was hosted by the United Front Work Department of the CPC Qingdao Municipal Committee, in collaboration with various local democratic parties and the Qingdao Federation of Industry and Commerce, and was held at the Laoshan Performing Arts Theater.
Xiao Xiyuan, a graduate of the Royal College of Music, embodies the new wave of outstanding young educators at the school. Many of these teachers, having studied at prestigious overseas institutions, are committed to bringing back advanced musical concepts and performance techniques to China. With a mission to impart this knowledge to young students, Xiao is a prime example of how the school integrates Western musical education with Chinese traditions.
The performance featured a variety of art forms, with Xiao participating in the musical-poetic piece “The Light of Island City – United Imprints.” Through music as the medium and notes as the vessel, Xiao’s deeply expressive performance conveyed heartfelt admiration and respect for the Party and the nation. Each note embodied sincere blessings for the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
