August 17 was a beautiful day as it was between late summer and early autumn. The red flag with five distinct yellow stars rose high above the campus as the national anthem sang. The staff of The Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao and the representatives of Qingdao Urban Construction Group (the host of the School) all gathered on the brand new campus to celebrate this important moment.

On the afternoon ofAugust 11, Yu Long,a internationally renowned conductor, music director of China Philharmonic Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra as well as the Chairman of the Symphony Orchestra League of China Musicians Association and the association members visited the Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao. Members present include the heads and music directors of the symphony orchestras from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Qingdao and other cities.

On July 9th, the donation project proposed by Shiping Foundation to the Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao became official. Mr. Wang Naixin, the Secretary General of Shiping Foundation, and Lu Siqing, President of the Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao, signed the donation agreement of ”The Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao Weigiao Scholarship" on behalf of the Foundation and the School with two million CNY donated by Shiping Foundation. The scholarship program will mainly support the School for selecting outstanding young talents and recruiting domestic and overseas teachers. It also supports teachers and students that participate in international exchangesvarious music related activities. It also gives financial support and rewards towards excellent students and promote the development of China's music and arts career.

On June 24th, President Lu Siqing held the School Affairs Meeting of the Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao in June, and listened to the content of the preparations for the opening of the School this fall and the report on the school's activities in summer 2022. He made arrangements for the key events before the new semester begin, such as the use of school facilities, teacher training, the improvement of the curriculum, concert tour, and enrollment. He also made a systematic plan for the Summer School schedule and for the music competition.

David Buckley, the Chair of the Yehudi Menuhin School in the UK, recently accepted the interview with People's Daily Online to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Diplomatic relations between China and the UK.
