Li Chengwei's musical education began in 2004 at the Central Music School of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, studying under Professor Anatoly Ryabov. He further honed his skills at the Master Piano Institute in Italy under the renowned pianist Oxana Yablonskaya, earning an Artist Diploma. Additionally, he studied at the Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona under Professor Stanislav Pochekin, where he obtained a Bachelor's degree. In 2015, Li Chengwei's exceptional talent earned him a place at the Royal College of Music in the UK, where he studied under distinguished pianists such as Dmitri Alexeev, Vanessa Latarche, and Kong Jianing, and earned a Master’s degree in piano performance.
Li Chengwei's refined and romantic musical style, coupled with his professional musicianship, has garnered him acclaim both in China and internationally. His accolades include the Prize Grande Virtuoso from the Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation in 2008, second place at the Eugenia Verdet International Piano Competition in Barcelona in 2014, the Musical Odyssey Prize in Greece in 2016, and consecutive finalist awards at the Chappell Medal Piano Competition at the Royal College of Music, where he also received the Kenneth and Violet Scott Scholarship.
Active on the international music festival circuit, Li Chengwei has performed at the Nice Music Festival in France, the Saint-Saëns International Piano Festival in France, the Mutters Piano Music Festival in Germany, and the Moscow Spivakov International Music Festival in Russia, earning broad acclaim. Russian conductor Spivakov has praised him as a talented and outstanding pianist. Notably, in 2006, the Association of Polish Musicians recognized him as one of the most talented musicians of the 21st century and invited him to tour Poland. In 2017, he toured as a contracted artist with the Spanish music management company PMM, held a "Reflection" themed concert in Ireland broadcast nationwide by Irish National Radio, and led a performance at Guangzhou's Haixinsha Asian Games Park in 2019 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the People's Republic of China, which was broadcast live by CCTV and other major media outlets.
Additionally, Li Chengwei has served as a judge for various piano competitions and as a master class instructor both domestically and internationally, including the Singapore International Piano Competition, the Steinway National Piano Competition, and the Irmler (Qingdao) International Piano Competition Finals. He has successfully guided his students to excel in competitions and gain admission to renowned music schools abroad.
