A recent graduate of the Bienen School of Music, Ms. Li holds a B.M. and M.M. in Music Education from Northwestern University. She has received extensive Choral, Piano and Aural Skills training from the age of 4, and is the recipient of Bienen’s Lucy P. Cantrell Piano and Amelia A. Hoff Memorial Scholarships. Ms. Li is currently the Choir Director and Teacher of Core Musicianship at YMSQ.
Since 2005, Ms. Li has been a member of Professor Yang Hongnian’s Choir (aka Beijing Philharmonic Choir), winning First Prize in the Grand Prix and/or Polyphonic categories of the 24th Béla Bartók, 54th Seghizzi, 7th Y. Falik and 65th Guido d’Arezzo international choral competitions. Ms. Li has accompanied and conducted rehearsals for multiple government-led tours and performances.
Ms. Li received private conducting lessons from Prof. Yang Hongnian since high school. In college, she continued her studies with Dr. Donald Nally and Dr. Doreen Rao, singing as a member of Northwestern’s capstone choir BCE conducted by Dr. Donald Nally (3-time Grammy Winner for Best Choral Performance).
