On January 3rd, Professor Qin Liwei of the Cello Department at The Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao kicked off the first master class of the new year. Drawing from his dual perspectives as a teacher and musician, Professor Qin provided personalized instruction to ten cello students. This session proved immensely beneficial for both students and teachers.

During the class, Professor Qin offered targeted technical guidance for specific pieces and explained their backgrounds. He also enriched the students' musical tastes from a performer's perspective. While praising the students' progress, he reminded them that technical proficiency is merely the foundation for becoming a musician. He emphasized that technique must serve the music, cautioning against mechanical playing. Professor Qin also integrated the core musicianship curriculum of The Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao, teaching students how to manage pre-performance nerves effectively.
